Rainbow Buddha. An Original Contemporary Art Work by Lita Xú Líng Kelley

Rainbow Buddha

Rainbow Buddha - Original Buddhist Art by Lita Xú Líng Kelley
Colorful neon bright multicoloered rainbow watercolor painting mixed media artwork of Buddha meditating.

This original artwork by Lita Kelley was inspired by the Buddhist concept of the rainbow body.

"The rainbow body is a concept in Tibetan Buddhism when everything begins to transform into pure light. It is said to be the highest state attainable in the realm of samsara before the "clear light" of Nirvana.

As the spectrum contains within itself all possible manifestations of light, and thus of color, the rainbow body signifies the awakening of the inner self to the complete reservoir of terrestrial knowledge that it is possible to access before stepping over the threshold to the state of Nirvana. Understandably, when depicted in the visual arts, due to the profusion of colors, the result is spectacularly unique."

Daruma Doll Nana Korobi Ya Oki Watercolor by Lita Xú Líng Kelley

Daruma Doll Nana Korobi Ya Oki Watercolor by Lita Xú Líng Kelley
I painted this watercolor painting of a Daruma Doll with the Japanese proverb "Nana Korobi Ya Oki" written in Japanese calligraphy 七転八起 back in September of 2015, and now it's available for purchase as a museum quality fine art print.

Nana Korobi Ya Oki in English literally means "Fall seven times, stand up eight", which means, when life knocks you down, get back up.

The Japanese Daruma Doll is a traditional Japanese doll modeled after Bodhidharma, the founder of Zen Buddhism.

Daruma dolls are seen as a symbol of perseverance and good luck, making them a popular gift of encouragement.  This Daruma Doll watercolor also has the Japanese character for luck, 運.

This fine art print , "Nana Korobi Ya Oki" is available in several sizes and can be purchased as a canvas print, a framed print, or just the print, and more.  There's many frames and papers to choose from.  For this particular work, I recommend the watercolor paper.   Customizable, 5 x 7 blank inside greeting cards are also available.

Additionally, you may also purchase this watercolor painting on mousepads, puzzles and playing cards.
